BQ4050: BQ4050 SMBus no ACK

Dear TI engineer:

I used BQ4050 for 3 cell battery gas gauge, but when debug the BQ4050 can't communicate with MCU by SMbus, the SMBD not ACK, can you help to check the schematic?

And how to check the BQ4050 is work normal? Dose there are some pin voltage level to sign BQ4050 is normal or other condition? Thanks!

Hi Batt,

We remove the resistor r34 and r35 connected pin15 and pin16 of bq4050, and replace r37 and r39 with 0R, remove r38 and c14, and the EV2300 can identify bq4050. But the SMBus communication between bq4050 and EV2300 is not stable, sometime bqStudio still dispaly no ACK, and the waveform of oscilloscope shows no ACK signal.

Maybe there is another reason which lead to this bug, do you have any suggestion?

What is the version of the fw on your ev2300? are you using 3.1r? I think that might be it. Also, are you on Windows 32 bit or 64 bit? ev2300 only supports 32 bit driver. There is an unofficial 64 bit driver linked in the product page.
