EM1402EVM: Charging

The EM1402 was designed to connect a single cell (out of a stack of 16), and connect it to a DC-DC that will transfer charge to and from an external 12V battery (typically the battery for your low voltage electronics in your car).

In your last post, this is referencing the ability to turn on the NFET at the highest position in the stack. Because the NFET needs a higher gate voltage than source voltage, the charge pump is present to provide a voltage higher than the battery stack and to drive the gate potentially up to 12V higher than the source.

In the case of the EM1402 EVM, the stack of 16 cells make up part of your high voltage battery pack, typically running your main motors. The 12V battery is a separate battery running your low voltage electronics. Charge is transferred between the two to maintain a balanced battery pack.

You would need some isolated way to measure it. The GUI does not have this, unless you use an isolated OP AMP (such as the AMC1200) to provide an isolated measurement to the pl455 AUX pin.

I would recommend a battery powered multi-meter for simple tracking in the lab.
