LM3466: led question

Part Number: LM3466

HI

I want to know. LM3466

1. I want to use the balance.
It seems to be using the veq port.
    Please explain the operation principle

2. Is there a veq voltage formula?

3. Is there a formula to obtain the output led current?

  • Hello,

    1) This part was designed to balance current between any number of channels desired. Yes it uses the Veq port similar to a compensation pin on a switch mode LED current regulator. The SEN pin lets the part know the current and when more than one is used they will divide by the number of LM3466s used.

    2) No

    3) This is not a current regulator, it is a current balancer. If you have two LM3466s and send it a current source of 1A it will split this and create two 500 mA channels. If that current source cut in half it would drop the current in the two channels to 250 mA. Please read the datasheet on how it operates. It explains when a string opens that the current share in the remaining channels will change.

    Regards,
