TPS40210: Minimum Output of TPS40210

Part Number: TPS40210

Hi, Team,

I have a basic question of TPS40210. Is there min output spec of TPS40210? A customer would like to use the IC with below condition.

【Input voltage】 19.5 V ± 1 V
【Output voltage】20.5 V
【Output current】 Max 3A (Since the power supply is for the speaker, the current width is wide.)

Best Regards,
Satoshi Yone

  • Yes there is a min output spec which is determined by the minimum ON time. At a given switching frequency, this min ON time produces the min Duty cycle, and it determines the boost converter's min step up ratio, or the min output. To have the Vout to be close to Vin, you need to reduce your min duty cycle by slowing down your switching frequency. Use the Max limit of the min ON time for the worst case analysis.
