TPS61230A: PFM Operation

Hello,

As TPS61230A operation, I think that it will enter PFM operation when L ripple current reach to bottom(Zero).


・Is that correct in that way?
・What is the calculation formula of the current value when switching between PWM Mode and PFM Mode?

    yes. the PFM will trigger if the current ripple reach to zero. based on the current ripple, you can calculate the input average current that the device switches between PFM and PWM mode. please note that this is only typical calculation.

    may i know why i need to calculate this value?

    It is necessary to confirm the state of SW frequency of TPS6120A in customer's application system.
    It is not mentioned in the datasheet of TPS61230A, I have received a question from them.

    Could you tell me if you have detailed calculation fomulas.

    the TPS61230A is not a fixed frequency device. the frequency of the converter will change a little with the load, VIN/VOUT condition and different devices even at PWM condition.

    you can also calculate the output current entering PWM with equation (1) in the datasheet, setting the Ivalley_lim to approximately 100mA.
