BQ78350: 0x2B HostFETControl mode turn on/off time

Part Number: BQ78350

Hi for all,

I would have a question regarding on HostFET Control mode.

We turn on the DSG MOSFET(via SMBUS), it will be on immediatly. But if we turn on the MOSFET, we can not turn off immediatly the MOSFET. We have to wait 4sec to go in off state.

Could you please clarify for me why? Is this time predefined?!

Thank you in advance!

Best regards

Adam

  • Hi Adam,
The developers put in the feature to allow the host some input into the FET state which would normally be under the control of the gauge. The lock and 4 second limit would provide some protection against inadvertent change and chattering of the FETs. The time is fixed. If I find a reason I will post. If the feature is not useful, an implementation with logic control may be more desirable than the behavioral one.
  • Thank you for the quick response!
