BQ34Z100: BQ34z100 Error code: 1484 (error unknown and was not translated)

Part Number: BQ34Z100
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ34110, , EV2400, BQSTUDIO,

Hello

after negative experience with bq34110 trying impedance track guage bq34z100, recently purchased eval board  and power it up according to quidck strat manual.

unfortunatelly, following instructins I am not able to update chemistry for 0434

do somebody knows what is wrong? Config: EV2400 + BQ34Z100EVM

Thanks a lot

later, TRIED BQ GAS GUAGE eval SW from ti page and I was able to update required chemistry file:

  • one more observation, using most recent bq studio brings troubles for multicell calibration, it was not possible to calibrate because recent bqstudio programmer wrongly set range for calibration ussuming only single cell config, previus SW overcome this issue, same experience with bq34110 but unfortunatelly there is only bq studio vaialble with all the issues all over again...

used SW, that works, however does not look nidce as recent bqstudio: bq34z100 Evaluation Software (Rev. A)

it looks like I am wrting and explaining to myself, but it might help somebody else and make ti guys thinking.

becaus eonce you pay for eval board you expect it will wotk and you can focus your effort to important tasks.

  • wotking calibration: (was not able to make in recent bq studio)

  • Hi Valentin,

Can you let us know which version of bqStudio you are using? For the bq34z100, I believe a later version is required. You can find the latest available version under BQSTUDIOTEST (v1.3.80):

    Best regards,

    Matt

  • version on photos I have submitted before (pictures above)...

reffered version is marked as for testing purposses:

  • Valentin,
You will need to update to the BQSTUDIOTEST version. I believe the regular version will be updated on the web site very soon. As you can see, it has been about a year since the regular version has been updated.
I apologize for this confusion. v1.3.80 is safe to use.
    Matt
  • Valentin,
Have you now switched to using the bq34z100 instead of the bq34110? If so, do you still need support for your open threads on the bq34110?
    Please let me know,
    Matt
  • Matt,

we have purchsed bq34z100 as worst case alternative, right now not sure what to use, we spent almost 3 weeks for tuning bq34110

Requirements: guaging 8SP1 LiFePo4 batterz pack, guage position: host (not implemneted in the battery pack), pack type A123 ARN

I have addressed questions regarding golden file for specific accumulator type, this will resolve all the issue once working, but difficult to get this information, the problem is there are many parameters not explained for multicell configuration

We have not found exact conditions, I think have addresed questions already at E2E, what needs to be kept for GPC cycle, found that algorithm is sensitive if we are not using CC load it was like 1400% error and switching to CC it was like 20% still too much, also we have not found any instructions for relaxation time and so on...

all refered dosumntation mentioned by yopu and your colleagues (in my other questions) we alredy knew before and we were going through, maybe there is other documentation, literaure available not easy to find.

    thanks,
    Valentin
  • Valentin,

Do you still have the same issue as described here?

    Thanks

    Miguel
  • Hi Valentin,

We can see that you've been having lots of difficulty with bq34110 and bq34z100-G1 and we are sorry it's been such an ordeal. Please be aware that we are hard at work on new documentation and videos to help with using these products. In the meantime, we believe using the new version of bqStudio (1.3.86) will solve your calibration issues but you must uninstall the old version first or else install the new version into a new directory. Your problem is likely the older .bqz file installed with the old bqStudio. Version 1.3.86 will soon be promoted to the main version as testing has been completed.
