BQ21040: BQ21040 - Issues related with the charging circuit

Hi,

one of my customer is  testing the BQ21040 battery charger IC & is using the schematic from  the datasheet application note . 

the battery detection is proper & we are getting 3.6V o/p when battery is connected . 

But the indication LED is not turning ON . 

also , i am getting around 1.4V at the cathode of LED . 

Please help in addressing the issue .

    The /CHG pin (Pin 3) will go low during the first charge cycle and voltage on the pin should be very low, less than 0.4V at 5mA.
    But this is only for the first charge cycle, recharge after this point will not be indicated see section 8.3.6.
