TPS51116: suggestion for DDR4 power solution

We have DDR4 power in a new project, and we choose NXP solution MC34716 currently.

Is TPS51116 suitable for my application? Or is there other new part recommended?

Requirement:

DDR4 memory power

VDDQ 1.2V/5A

VTT 0.6V/3A

Hi Tiffany,

For the 3A VTT current requirement, is it the peak current lasting for a short time, or the DC current lasting for some time?

TPS51116 VTT rail is a linear regulator, it can not sustain 3A current for long time because the device will be heated quickly due to large power loss and the VTT voltage will drops.

We recommend TPS53317A for VTT rail if 3A is DC current lasting for some time.

Customer need VDDQ output included.
Seems TPS51116 is the most suitable solutaion?

Please check VTT current with customer first.
Customer may need to consider two parts, one for VDDQ and one for VTT.

Hi Tiffany,

With 5A VDDQ current, VTT current should be much lower than 3A, most likely <1A. In this case, you can consider TPS51216/716/916 which can supply both VDDQ and VTT.
