TPS54531: About FMEA

Part Number: TPS54531

Hi teams,

My customer wants to know about FMEA.
Please let me know if you have the FMEA.
If you don't, would you tell me the follow questions?
1.How does it get the damage if the pin number 2 and 3 connect to short?
When the device get the damage, will it give the voltage from Vin to Vout?
2.Similarly, will the behavior as described above be at pins 1 and 2?
Best regards.
Hayashi
  • There is no FMEA.

    1. Because abs EN is 6V, if EN short to VIN with exceed voltage that will damage EN pin.

    2. If BOOT short to VIN, always work under BOOT UVLO, device can't turn on.

    Thank you for your reply.
Would you tell me additional questions?
I just wanted to ask you about failure mode.

1.If get the damage when EN short to VIN high voltage, will it supply from Vin to Vout?or will not to output?
2.Similarly, when BOOT short to VIN, how output does it operate to?

    Best regards

  • Frankly speaking, didn't do similar bench test, in theory:

    1. Should be only EN block circuit's function not work normllay, no HSFET damage cause Vin to VOUT.

    2. Because always BOOT VULO, device can't power on, so no voltage on output.

My customer have tested about the short Vin to BOOT.
The result is it can't turn on, it is delivered to VCC 17.2V.
    Their condition is the follow.

    Vcc:24V
    Vout(in fact) :5V
    EN = L(Active Low)
When the 1-2 pin recover from short mode, it delivered the 5V.

Please let me know, why is it delivered 17.2V?

    Best regards
