TPS27S100: Are there any ways to distinguish /FLT signals between short detection and open load detection?

Hi team

Are there any ways to distinguish /FLT signals between short detection and open load detection?

If the load is shorted or open, /FLT goes to Low at the both case. This means MCU can't know this signal is for open load or short circuit.

As a alternative, are there any ways to disable open-load detection? This is because they don't need open load detection in this sytem.

Hello,

The only difference is the deglitch time. Open load detection in off state deglitch time is 600uS and 700uS in on state. Short detection is almost immediate. Not sure if the MCU can make this difference.

To disable the open load detection in off state, do not use pull up resistor from VOUT to supply

To disable the open load detection in on state, pull down resistor from VOUT to GND, Vout/R > 6mA will make it.

We would like disable open load detection in both states, off & on state.
Do you mean that we can disable open load detection in both state, if we pull down resister from VOUT to GND?

Hello Takahashi-san,

That is right. Pull down resistor from VOOT to GND can disable open load detection in both states.
