BQ25504: Setting question of VSTOR

Part Number: BQ25504

Hi Team,

My customer is surveying BQ25504 and has some questions as below, could team help to comment it?

  1. How to set VSTOR as 3.3V system output
  2. What’s difference between VBAT_OK and VBAT_OK_HYST?
  3. VBAT_UV should be equal to or higher than cutoff voltage of battery
  4. VBAT_OV should be equal to or lower than charge voltage of battery

Thanks a lot.

Vincent Chen

  • 1. VSTOR is not a regulated voltage. Thus, if customer wants a regulated voltage, they will need to have a buck or boost converter after VSTOR.

    2. Please refer to datasheet page 6 EC table. VBAT_OK is when VSTOR voltage is falling.

    3. VBAT_UV is the under voltage threshold. It should be okay to set VBAT_UV equal or higher than cutoff voltage. It is up to customer's preference.

    4. Similarly to VBAT_UV, VBATOV_ should be okay to set to equal or lower than the charge voltage of the battery.

  • Regarding point 1, since VSTOR is not a regulated voltage, what is the voltage at the VSTOR pin?
  • The VSTOR voltage setting is the maximum or clamped voltage for VSTOR that charges the battery at BAT. When no input source is available, the voltage at VSTOR will be the battery voltage less a resistive drop due to the FET between VSTOR and BAT.
