BQ24133: IF I Pull the TTC to LOW to disable the charge termination and safety timer, which condition the charge will stop

Part Number: BQ24133

HI Sir

IF I Pull the TTC to LOW to disable the charge termination and safety timer, which condition the charge will stop?

thanks

  • Hi Alex,

Please check Section 9.3.9 (Enable and Disable Charging) in the datasheet.

While pulling TTC to LOW disables the last condition, the other conditions are still active.

  • Hi Angelo

As I know TTC pull low will disable charge termination

    May I know

    1. How BQ24133 can know charge complete? as I know if enable TTC ,BQ24133 will indicate charge complete when charge current below the termination current setting

    2. When battery charge complete ,the charger will keep charging or not?

    Thanks

  • Hi Kai,

    1. The bq24133 detects termination/charge completion when the SRN voltage is higher than recharge threshold and the charge current is less than the termination current threshold, as described in Section 9.3.5. This is true regardless of whether TTC is enabled or disabled. The difference is that when TTC is enabled, then charge termination and the safety timer are active and can also cause termination.

    2. When charging is complete, the charger enters termination and does not keep charging. The discharge current once termination is detected is only about 2 mA.

    Hope this clears things up!

  • HI Angelo

    Thanks for your reply

But I have confused ,May I know what's disable charge termination mean?

TTC to GND => Disable charge termination

TTC to VREF => Allow charge termination

  • Hi Kai,

Disabling charge termination means that instead of entering the Termination phase and cutting off the current when it reaches 10% of Ichrg, the charger will stay in the Fastcharge Voltage Regulation Phase (CV mode), and the current will continue gradually tapering off.
