problem with LM1086CS-5.0/NOPB

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM1086

Hi,

I have a problem with LM1086CS-5.0/NOPB.

Output is 5V with a consumption of 500mA (2.5W).

When I apply 15V on my input, I read on my supply a consumption of 500mA on the 15V (7W ???)

Normally I will read < 500mA  on my input.

Can you help me ?

Thank

Christophe

  • Hi Christophe,

For a linear regulator Iin is equal to the sum of Iout and Ignd.  As such, if you have 500 mA on the output of LM1086, you should read a little over 500 mA on the input.

I notice you attempted to attach an image or file.  Please refer to the following on how to insert these on E2E:

    Very Respectfully,

    Ryan
