If a Li-Ion battery is cooled down to low temperature, cell voltages change.
Also if charge or discharge is forbidden and the corresponding FETs are opened, PowerPump starts to balance.
At low lemperature, the pumping current causes huge voltage change (also true for my dedicated low impedance cell) of approximately 200mVpp at -40°C and 100mVpp at -20°C.
The voltage step during pumping results into an never ending pumping and balancing. This consumes high amount of energy. So the battery can not be transported or storaged at temperature below 0°C without the result of a rapidly discharged and therefore unusable battery.
Is it possible, to disable the pumping mode in low temperature or if charge/discharge FETs are off?
Best regards
