TPS61021A: Use with multilayer inductors

Part Number: TPS61021A

Hello,

I'm assisting a customer with their TPS61021A design, and they need low profile (max 1.00mm) inductors for this design. They found these multi-layer parts that are low profile, but they've never used these type of inductors for DC-DC before.

Are there any design drawbacks to these types of inductors that we need to be aware of? If we have any relevant app notes that would be very helpful.

  • Hi Ryan,

    I recommend you use murata inductor.  As far as I know, TDK will not focus on inductor anymore.

    When chooisng an inductor, should check following item:

    1. Current rating, it should be 30% higher than the peak inductor current;

    2. Frequency, it should be high frequency inductor in this application. A powder core inductor is recommedned;

    What is your Vin, Vo/Io? So that we can calculate it.
