Fast startup time solution

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS62097, TPS22971

Hi Team,

Sorry to bother you. My customer would like to survey 3.3Vin/1.2Vout/0.5A PoL solution which need to support 30uS startup time.

May I have your suggestion? Thanks for your help and time.

  • Hi Redick,

Do I understand that they need the ramp time of Vout to be 30usec? Is this value a minimum, typical, or maximum ramp time?

Most all DC/DCs are slower than this, so I suggest either a DC/DC with a SS pin (which can be left floating to give the fastest startup) like TPS62097 or a normal DC/DC followed by a load switch (which can turn on in less than 30 usec).
  • Hi Chris,

Thanks for your quick reply. This 30us is typical time.
Besides, after I check the TPS62097 datasheet, it seems the minimum startup time is 0.6ms. do you have any other solution which can meet this requirement.

  • Hi Redick,

I don't know where you see 0.6msec. With that one, you could leave SS/TR floating and get a fast startup time. This may still be longer than 30 usec.

I think the best solution is using any DC/DC, followed by a fast load switch. The TPS22971 looked good for your specs.
