BQ76940: bq76940 current shunt change from Low-side to high-side application

Part Number: BQ76940
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ40Z60

HI,

The current design needs to be grounded with the system (in order for the MCU to control the BQ76940) , It is known that it can be solved through an isolated design, but with space and cost constraints.

I hope to adopt High-side current shunt circuit design, can you provide a better proposal for the orange block through the following model?

BTW, another Project will use the Bq40z60 to encounter the same issue, if the solution can be used together it will be better.

  • Hi Janson,
Conceptually your diagram should work well. Because of the added complexity and cost and because the requirements may change with specific system needs we don't have a standard recommendation for battery systems. TI's signal chain people should be able to recommend parts, you might look at www.ti.com/currentsense and if you have a question on a part post a forum question.
