TPS65950

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65950

The TPS65950 has a Backup battery input on pin M14 which is +1.8v min. and +3.3v Max and we have
a +3.3v non valital and +1.8v non valital rails. Question is the input on M14 could we still use our non valital
output in to it or do we need to add a series R? What I would like to do is just send the super cap output that
is +3.3v directly into M14. Can you get some one to look into this for me?

  • Hi Tim,

Can you help me understand what is a vilital rail?

For the backup info - generally one would connect a coin cell as a back-up source. This can be a rechargeable cell as the device can recharge the coin cell.

You can connect a super cap output to this pad as long as the voltage is in spec. However, with a super cap how long do you expect the voltage supplied to be at proper levels?

  • Hi Tim,

I see the super cap as any regular source of power. I do not see any problem using such a super-cap.

I have never used one so here is one naive question - Do the super caps sink lot of current from the main source? I tried to find out info online but didnt come across any specific current info. If the 3.3V is connected to the super-cap and the system then this should be accounted for, other than that I do not see any problem.
