BQ25703A: Optimization

Part Number: BQ25703A

I want BQ25703A to occupy less space on the board.
Can I get rid of CELL_BATPRESZ, ILIM_HIZ, IADPT, IBAT, PSYS?
What should I do with them? Leave floating? Connect to the ground?

  • Hello,

You may leave IBAT and PSYS floating if you do not want to use the analog power and charge current functionality.

For ILIM_HIZ, you may pull this rail up to a voltage above 4.0V to disable usage of the external ILIM_HIZ pin. Note that the resistor programming of input current limit will be non-functional, and you would need to use the internal register-set input current limit to get this functionality.

I would recommend that you keep the CELL_BATPRESZ resistor divider in the event of a POR. While the charge regulation voltage and minimum system voltage can be reprogrammed after the fact via the registers, a POR event will reset the charger's registers to a default thresholds based on the CELL_BATPRESZ voltage. However, if you are comfortable with being able to avoid a POR event or register reset to default, then you may pull CELL_BATPRESZ up to VDDA for a default 4S battery configuration.

The last pin, IADPT is required for controller feedback. Keep the 137kOhm.
