[FAQ] TPS65916: How should VCCA and VIO supplies be sequenced?

Part Number: TPS65916

What are the requirements for the sequencing of the input supplies for this device?

  • VCCA must be provided before VIO is supplied, because while the OTP is being loaded, VIO output buffers could be changing.

Therefore, VIO should be sequenced to ramp after VCCA is applied. Typically, VIO_IN should be powered from the same VIO supply as the processor, which must also be sequenced after the PMIC. This could be a switched 3.3V rail, or a 1.8V output from the PMIC.

Without active discharge, VIO may be discharged slower than VCCA. This is not impacting system-reliability, only negative effect is that it might cause leakage from VIO (which would ultimately discharge VIO).

Except the leakage current, there is no concern even if VIO is supplied up to 3.6V when VCCA=0V.
