Hi Roberto,

How to program MSP430F2252TDA controller for PMP8740 design? should i need to first program the ic and then fix on board or I should first fix IC on board then program?

    Hi Anjana,

    If I remember correctly, I programmed the MSP430 uC directly in the system, because the blank uC keeps outputs in three-state, and the hardware is designed in order to stay OFF when the micro stays in three-state. To be sure, I would nevertheless program the uC separately and insert it in the system (in my prototype I have a daughter board), then it is possible to re-program it or debug it even when the converter is on.

    Hello Roberto,
    You mean It is not necessary to follow "first programme and then solder on PCB" procedure. I can make daughter board ready and then program or debug. I am asking this because I don't have experience on this.

    Hello Anjana,

    In theory it is not necessary to follow "first programming and then solder on PCB" procedure, but I suggest to program it in advance and then solder it to the PCB, or, if you want, you can solder it in the final application and disable the power stages, PFC and DC/DC, to avoid any mis-driving, during the programming.
