BQ24610: Battery Charging and Dischargin Test

Part Number: BQ24610

Hello,

I would like to know how to test correctly the charging and discharging of a Li-Ion battery, we are checking the following:

Battery characteristics

Li-Ion

4S4P

14.6V Nominal voltage

12.8Ah

Charger configuration

VBAT = 16.4V

ICHARGE = 6A

IPRECHARGE = 0.3A

IDPM = 3A

CTTC = 0.1uF -> @9Hours

Fo =13.6KHz

Description Issue

The first charge begins with a battery voltage = 13.5V in fast mode charge with initial charge = 5.8A in CC mode and charge termination current = 290mA and it continues until the charge battery is completed.

After that, a load = 6A is applied for discharge until the battery voltage falls to 13.5V. At this point all appears working, but when we try to charge the battery again, the charge current = 40mA and doesn’t rise to the calibrate value, the led status shows that the charge is running but it doesn’t.

We changed the IC BQ24610RGER on the board and we got the same functionality, the first charge is completed and in the second charge the charge current keep the same value (40mA) for long time.

Could you suggest some test or advise to fix this issue.
