TPS54302EVM-716: IC gets really hot at 24Vin/5Vout/3A application

Hi Team,

As title, the TPS54302 on the EVM became really hot (106.9 deg C) at room temperature after about 3 minutes of test.

Is that within your expectation?

The simulated result in Webench shows a maximum temperature of ~75 deg C, though.(2 oz board)

Hi,

For EVM Board, 106.9 deg C is the right temperature value @3A.

Hi Shawn,

Is there any way to reduce the temperature rise? I guess this may due to the lack of thermal pad?

Hi Roy,

What is your concern about the temperature? You can add more holes near the device.
