BQ24195: output capacitance on PMID

Part Number: BQ24195

Hi,

If the product will never need to provide OTG current, is it feasible to not put any capacitors on the PMIC pin? That would be an important cost improvement on our end. Thank you.

Best regards,

Alin O. Dragomir

  • Hey Alin,

We do not recommend removing the capacitors from the PMID pin. While this capacitance is utilized for the OTG mode, PMID has a more important role in filtering high-frequency current content when the charger is operating in buck mode (charge mode). PMID is the true input to the internal buck converter used for charging.
