LP8758-E0: LP8758-E0

Part Number: LP8758-E0
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LP8758

Ordering the LP8758-E0 with pre-programmed voltage on all 4 outputs.  I want to know the lead time for these device with pre-programmed voltages. My understanding is that there is a one time programmable area that will hold initial values.

Thanks

  • Happy to get your question. You are correct that the LP8758 is capable of being pre-programmed with different voltages on the outputs.

We have several versions released on TI.com that have different default settings. Our TI E-Store should have sample stock for immediate ordering and shipment of the LP8758-E0 version you are referencing.

Those default settings for each version are programmed with OTP in our manufacturing process, so for large volume projects we can create a custom part number with customer specific voltage settings.

If you are interested in this, I will take the conversation off of our support forum to explore with your TI account representative. They should contact you shortly.

For easy initial prototyping, you can also re-write the OTP settings after startup via I2C. It will default every time the device turns off, but it may help you in the short term.

Please watch for an email from your local TI account team.

    Thanks

  • I'm sorry, But I went to the store and found nothing to indicate that you had various output voltages to choose from. I would really like to be able to program the OTP myself. Is there something in your product line for Switching regulators that has that feature?
  • This LP8758 device requires the programming to be done in manufacturing. You can overwrite the settings via I2C but they then reset when the device turns off.
We do have a PMIC TPS65086100RSKT that just released this week that allows the customer to program the device themselves.
  • I've used the LP8758-E0 in a previous design and it worked out fine. I just wanted to be able use one in my current design that I could have defaulted to these rails, 0.95V, 1.50V, 1.8 V -pri, and 1.8V -sec.
I'm guessing that since my quantities for my reference design are limited to 25, that I wouldn't be able to order these? Correct?
  • That is correct. You would not be able to order these immediately.

Samples with the customized defaults that you are listing would need to be created special. We do sometimes do this for large volume opportunities, but would need to be discussed with your local TI representative. They already confirmed to me that they would be reaching out to you.
