LM5070: LM5070 with coilcraft C1586-Al get only 8V out (it should be 12V)

Part Number: LM5070
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS23753A

Hi

I'm using this IC LM5070 with transformer C1586-AL (  isolated transformer out 12v. But  I get only about 8V out. TI doesn't have reference design for 12V out put. So I used the application 3.3v out in the data sheet of LM5070, and modify for 12V out. Does any one have reference design for this application 12V out . using LM5070 and coilcraft C1586-Al

any help

Thank you

Sony Kim

  • Greetings Sony.

The LM5070 is an older part which was acquired from National. As such, it does not have a strong portfolio of TI Designs and applications support. The recommended alternative part is TPS23753A. Do you think this part could satisfy your technical requirements (it is also sold at a lower price) or is there something specific you believe the LM5070 delivers?

The TPS23753A has a full portfolio of TI Designs - ranging in optimization from total BOM cost, to efficiency, to PCB size...and at multiple voltage levels. A quick search on the TI Design webpage reveals there are 18 options which utilize the TPS23753A. Have you searched those options to see if we have a fit for you?

Thank you for reaching out to us.
  • Sony, I see that you are satisfied with this answer.

What further guidance can we provide?
