TPS51206: why need VTTref and VTT?

Part Number: TPS51206

Hi,

I wanna know why do we have VTTref and VTT at the same time?

what does VTTref for?

is there any specific limit for the application to connect the VTTref and VTT?

The other question is what is the advantage using this part rather than normal DC-DC converter?

Thanks for your help.

  • Hello,

TPS51206 was designed for DDR application.

A separate VTTREF signal is required from DDR side. DDR compares input signal to VTTREF to know if the signal is logic high or low.

During operation, VTTREF voltage variation is small because VTTREF current is very small. While VTT voltage has larger variation due to large VTT current.
