BQ2057: Can system can be directly connected to the battery?

BQ24133 datasheet says – "For 1-cell applications where the battery is not removable, the system can be directly connected to the battery to simplify the power path design and reduce the cost. With this configuration, the battery can automatically supplement the system load if the adapter is overloaded."

Can that apply to BQ2057 as well?

I understand that BQ2057 will provide lower current than BQ24133 (2A instead of 2.5A), but other than that is there anything else that will be different in this application?

    The BQ2057 and BQ24133 are very different devices with a large number of differences.

    BQ2057 is a non power path device, the system and battery must be connected together. System cannot operate with a discharged battery.
    BQ24133 is a power path device that can charge a battery and operate the system at the same time. Can operate with a discharged battery.
