1) What version of Linux are you using?
2) What do you want to accomplish with "test the interface from the kernel"? E.g., send direct commands over i2c? Poke around from userspace with something like CONFIG_REGULATOR_USERSPACE_CONSUMER? Something else?

I would like to see if there is built in command to see the sending/reading i2c commands to communicate with PMIC.

Thanks for the reply. However, when I try to use the i2cget command, I got the following:

root@am437x-evm:~# i2cget 0 0x24 0 b
Error: Could not set address to 0x24: Device or resource busy

What would be the problem?

Hello Zhiwei,

Using i2cdetect showed UU, which means the device is probably being used by a driver. I will look into if there is a better way to see i2c communication going on between the processor and the PMIC.

I am still not sure what you are trying to do.
* Are you just trying to test that the hardware works? Then using direct i2c commands could work once we disable the drivers that are talking with the PMIC.
* Are you trying to debug the driver communication with the PMIC?
* Do you want the PMIC to behave in a certain way during your use case? (e.g. you want to write a custom PMIC driver?)
* Do you want to do something else?

I just want to know if there is an i2c debug message that can apply to either i2c0 or i2c1.

What are you trying to debug?

we have pmic and ina266 on i2c0, and several sensors on i2c1 bus. I just want to know if there is a general i2c debug facility available.
