TPS2410: Reduce the quiescent current into VDD

Part Number: TPS2410
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5050-1

Hi,

We got a question from the customer about TPS2410.
Could you help us?

[Question]
Are there any concern about the condition which the voltage is applied to A pin when VDD is not applied? They want to reduce the quiescent current into VDD. Therefore they are considering separating VDD from power supply line at the standby condition. Please refer to below figure.

Best Regards,
tateo

  • Hi Tateo,

To reduce the quiescent current, there is no issue in disconnecting the Vdd pin from power rail (C or A) with a swtich.
However, there will be currents through A, C pins and the external programming resistors for UVLO and OVP.

Other way to reduce the Iq, is to disconnect the GND pin from system GND using a switch.
Please refer to the TI design on LM5050-1 for Iq reduction in standby mode. "www.ti.com/.../TIDA-00992"

    Regards,
    Kari.
