TPS2104: Power Switch/MUX for dual-cell batteries

Hi,

I'm currently looking for a device similar to TPS2104 which is capable to performing power switching/mux from two battery sources. However in my case I'm having dual cell batteries thus I'll need at least 9V Vin for both inputs. Please advise. Thanks!

Hi Leo,

I have a few questions to determine the best solution for this application.

What is the current rating needed for the load?
Can VOUT dip/drop when switching between supplies?
Are there any other key careabouts for the application?

Hi Alek,
1. current will be lower than 2A
2. battery hot swap capability will be a great
3. there may be incident whereby primary battery dies out, secondary battery kicks in without end equipment system shutting down

Hi Alek,
Do let me know if we have possible solution for the following? if it's a multichip solution maybe it could work as well.

Primary battery: 8.4V, 2A max
Secondary battery: 5V, 2A max

The only two chip solution we have is using two TPS25942 devices, as shown in the app note below. Let me know if you have any questions on this.
