Hello,

I would look at the TPS92640 and TPS92641. It is synchronous which will help with efficiency if the input voltage is much higher than the LED forward voltage.

Here is a similar design for 20A: www.ti.com/.../pmp8016

dear Irwin,
my customer before used TPS92640 evm to try drive 20A LED,but failure,because the solution's effeciency is low ,only about 85% around,So the external mosfet is very hot, when we drive up to 6A,the temprature is about 70 degree,if we go on to increase the drive current ,the board temprature is higher;
the tps92641 is similar with tps92640, could it can drive up to 20A current?
if can ,can you tell me how to change tps92640 evm component parameter?

Hello,

That's because the EVM was designed for 1A. The TPS92641 just has more features then the TPS92640 so the operate the same. They both can drive that current, look at pmp8016 in the link above. When you are designing for 25A the PCB, PCB traces and components (inductor, MOSFETs, Capacitors, etc) have to be able to handle the current. You can't easily take a 1A design and make it work at 25A.
