Hello,

Custom board with BG34Z100-G1 part.

We get lots of errors programming the fuel gauge firmware through Battery management studios 1.3.52

We would like to slow down the speed of the I2C SCLK for test. Is there a way to do this?

Hi Roger,

Are you interested in reducing the speed of the clock for communication? You can keep the SCL low before acknowledgement to give you enough time to do your processing.

Hello,

We have Battery management studios running on a PC connected using an EV2300 cable to a custom board using a BQ34Z100-G1.

The interface is very similar to the I2C programming interface on the eval board.

We get lots of errors (read and write) programming the fuel gauge.

We want to try slowing down the I2C clock to see if our programming errors are reduced.

Is there a way to do this?

then the answer is no this can't be done. This is internal to the chip.

Hi Miguel - thanks but what do you mean internal to the chip? I believe during programming the PC is the master and provides the SCL signal.

Hi Roger,

Please upgrade bqStudio to the latest 'bqstudiotest' version found here:

http://www.ti.com/tool/bqstudio

With your EV2300, please ensure the firmware is more recent than 3.1c. There is a known communications issue with the 3.1c firmware that will require updating with another EV2300 using the updater, found here: http://e2e.ti.com/cfs-file.ashx/__key/communityserver-discussions-components-files/180/3225.EV2300FWUpdaterUnprogDev.zip

If you also have an EV2400, please ensure that your EV2400 is running the latest firmware found here:

http://www.ti.com/tool/ev2400

If the issues persist after upgrading both the firmware and bqStudio please scope the I2C lines and capture several examples, zoomed in with cursors to analyze the rise/fall time. Please also provide a schematic that shows the comms circuit, including pull up resistors and other devices that are connected to the I2C bus.

Bryan - thank you for your response. We will check this out. I suggest closing it based on your feedback. If it comes down to scope traces and we end up needing help I will open another issue.
