TPS2115A: ADRB version Current limit questions

Part Number: TPS2115A

Hi team,

We have some questions for the TPS2115ADRB and this part can be adjusted current limit range up to 2A.

1. May I know what's the current limit accuracy formula or % ratio for min and max?

What's the min and max current limit accuracy if we adjust RILIM= 250ohm?

2. The application may need a moment about 1mS to 2.2A.

Is that set RILIM= 250ohm OK for the application?

We are afraid  that will detect to limit output current and the TPS2115A cannot be used here.

Thank you!

  • Hi Zoe,

We do not have accuracy data for the specific case of RILIM = 250Ω, but you are correct, this is the right resistor value to use. What I can say is that the accuracy will be better than the RLIM=400Ω use case, and that accuracy is +/- 25%. For the 2A use case, you can expect a potential variation of 1.5A to 2.5A.

    Thanks,

  • Hi Alek,

    Thanks for your reply~ :)
But for my second question, the application may need a moment about 1mS to 2.2A.
But in the datasheet current limit settling time is 1mS.
Is the 2.2A will trigger the current limit?
And is this part can be used for the application?
    Thank you very much!!!
  • Hi Zoe,

Apologies for the delay. In this case, the 1ms pulse of 2.2A may trigger the current limit. The settling time is primarily for inrush current considerations. Is the 2.2A caused by inrush current during startup?

    Thanks,
