This is my configuration:

Board: BQ76940EVM

Batt: 12S1P (Nominal Voltage 3.6V, Nominal Capacity 3.0Ah) 

Program Battery Chemistry: 18650HG2(3000mAh) ID 2125

Interface: EV2400

Problem: I was able to discharge the battery to 0% using a 2.0A CC dummy load. However, as you can see in the picture below, my batteries still have 43469mV

Here is a picture of my protection settings

Any help will be appreciated.

Here is an extra information: As you can see in the plots below:

Battery SOC went from 94% to 0% in 17m21s. Also, check the very fast change from 82% to 8%.

Voltage is more than 42v at the end of the voltage plot.

    Have you selected and loaded the chemID for your battery into the data flash settings?

    Yes, i am able to communicate with the BQ76940EVM. The temporary lost of communications happened when I try to charge the battery. Once I reset the communication (disconnect/connect) the usb, the communication goes back to normal

    Hi Jorge,

    The jump down to 7% SOC means that the device thinks you are hitting the EDV2 voltage. Did you run voltage calibration?

    Hi Jorge,

    Can you capture the individual cell voltages? The jump to 7% indicates that the gauge is detecting the crossing of one of the EDV thresholds. The gauge detects when any of the individual cells crosses this threshold. Are you seeing equal voltages across cells? Are you using cell balancing on the monitor device?

    I didn't setup any balancing on the monitor device. How I do that?

    Hi Jorge,

    From the log file, it is clear that the EDV2 voltage is being reached and is triggering the large change in SOC. In the image below, you can see Cell 10 reaching the 3501mV trip point. This causes the SOC estimation to jump to 7%, the Gauging Status register on the right asserts the EDV2 bit, and the RCA and RTA alarms are set in the BatteryStatus() register.  

    So the main problem is the cell imbalance. At the beginning of your log file, the cells are already showing imbalance of around 500mV between the lowest and highest values. Can you measure the cell voltages after a full charge? Cell balancing is enabled by default, so balancing should occur during charging. When connecting cells to the EVM, impedance difference can contribute to this problem. Can you see if there is a way to improve your connections to minimize resistances?

    I just discovered that I skipped part of the instructions to reduce cell account.
    To be more specific, I skipped "Short AFE Inputs" step, described in document SLVU925B, Table 3, Page 28.
    Once I completed this jumpers, my voltages went to normal.
