Hello

In our application we do not need VBUs, we have pulled up Vbus pin to 5V through a 10k resistor. When we ran the system it complained from Vbus error. I changed the pull up resistor to 1k ohms then things went ok for one day only, afterwards we kept getting VBUs error. It looks like pulling vbus up to 1k Ohm did caused some damage, Do you think this possible to damage the part because of 1kohm? We did not disable the CP and our ID pin is grounded. if we disable the C.P. do you think the Vbus detection logic will be disabled too?

Hi,

If VBUS Is not needed in your application, best would be to just disable the CP and ground ID pin. NO external pull up is needed in un-used condition. Internal weak pull-down will ensure VBUS does not rise.

Detection logic will not be disabled if CP is disabled.

How about the damage that happens to the chip with 1Kohms pullup resistor 5 volt.

Hi,

I think the damage was due to the CP being active. Charge pump is a boost convertor and you had 5V on the output of this supplied from external source.

If you do not have the CP on then there should not be any issue.
