LMG5200: Is the deadtime circuit already incorporated into the LMG5200 chip?

Hi,

I am not sure if the dead time circuit is already incorporated into the design of the chip, or do I have to externally ensure a sufficient deadtime externally while supplying the PWM signals to avoid shoot-through? I would really appreciate if someone can clarify this.

Hello Abdul,

Per the LMG5200 datasheet, section 8.3.1:

"In order to allow flexibility to optimize deadtime according to design needs, the LMG5200 does not implement an
overlap protection functionality. If both HI and LI are asserted, both the high-side and low-side GaN FETs are
turned on. Careful consideration must be applied to the control inputs in order to avoid a shoot-through condition."

You must set the dead time with the input timing of your PWM signals.

Dear Abdul,

The LMG5200 does not provide deadtime control function internally. This needs be done with the external controller.
