We are using battery (7.4V nominal, 8.4V max) to power the system where we require to convert this voltage to Vout=5V ,5A using a regulator and this regulator should provide the stable output even when the battery voltage is dropped upto 5.85V could you please suggest any regulator that meets this requirement ?

And also could suggest the minimum voltage that can be given to TPS54531 to get stable 5V , 5A output.

Hi Karthik,

TPS54521 is suggested in your application.

For TPS54531, The dropout performance is influenced by both IC and external diode and inductor DCR.

If you use Vd=0.55V, RL=15m Ohm, in your case, Vin_min is calculated as 6.38V.

Could you please suggest any alternate part with 8 pin SOIC with thermal pad package rather than QFN package.

Since device is battery operated the efficiency of the regulator is expected to be very good.above 90% even when operated at low voltage(5.5V) of the battery.
