TLV62565: Highest efficiency

Part Number: TLV62565
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV62568

Hello

Which inductance and DCR value will get highest efficiency of TLV62565 ( 5V to 3.3V, Iout 200mA ~ 1A) ? Thank you.

BR

Patrick

  • HI Patrick,
I would say the lower the DCR the higher efficiency you could achieve as it reduces conduction losses. you could try using inductor with 24mohm DCR for example.

Have you looked into the TLV62568? it is p2p to TLV62565 and has slightly better efficiency for your load interest range.
What is you target efficiency here?
  • Hello

If choose 2.2uH and 24mohm DCR is ok for higher efficiency? Has any calculate formula for reference?

My target efficiency will be 95% under this load range. Thank you.

  • I can't assure you this would fulfill your target, you need to measure it in your application.
The power losses can be calculated using Ploss= IR² where R is the inductor DCR and you could deduct the power loss difference between the different DCR
24mohm is just an example (I checked the one in the datasheet were 50mohm therefor I suggested half).
I just check on passive manufacturer website I see there are inductors with enven lower DCR available (for eg. 10mohm )

I would also strongly recommend to take a look at the TLV62568/9
