BQ76940EVM: Current Capability

Part Number: BQ76940EVM

If I am to utilize the Q1 and Q3 patterns are for parallel power FETs, What is the limiting component on the board in terms of current. And what is the max continuous rated current when these pads are in use.

Thanks,

-Kyle

  • Hi Kyle,
The board is rated at 15A in the limited environmental range noted. Components are identified in the BOM table, you can check ratings. The terminals were rated at 30A for example. The limiting factor is likely component temperature.
See the EVM user guide section 2.1 for cautions. If you increase the current you may need to provide cooling for the board. Monitor component and surface temperatures as needed. The heatsink patterns are provided near the FETs, but will be most effective with adequate airflow. The sense resistor may be the limiting factor.
See the EVM disclaimers, and be safe in your testing.
