Dear sir,

I want to charge android phone using the battery of an Auto Rickshaw which is usually of 12 volts. Is there any reference design available ?

Do you mean you want to use the 12V Auto Rickshaw Battery as the input source to charge the phone? The charger IC is already designed inside the phone and there is no need of design efforts for your case. I am not sure what kind of reference design you are referring to. Please clarify.

Yes, correct I want to use 12V Auto Rickshaw Battery as the input source to charge the phone. OK if charger IC is already designed inside the phone isn't there any protection circuitry required? can I feed 12v directly to the phone? if no then please suggest me a proper regulator ic for that.

Manoj,

From the charging point of view, the phone has no issue to be charged if you have a connector to feed the 12V to the phone. The charger and the phone battery have protection functions. You want to prevent the short circuit of the battery 12V output and add protection circuitsuch as fuse that allows the current the phone required.
