Hi all,

My customer got a request from customer to improve power factor at light load.

Improvement was found when changing around the current detection of PFC.

He has limited time, so he is trying to improve by increasing the capacitor of ICOMP Current.

As is: 0.01 uF → Countermeasure: 0.015 uF or 0.022 uF

Since he reduce Gain, he have to check rapid load step and input rapid change.

Do you have any other concerns?

Hi Hiroshi-san,

Can you tell me what the test condition is and the THD or PF specification?

I dont have any concern about changing the ICOMP cap value other than it make may slow down the current loop. If the customer is trying to improve performance at say 10% load at 230V input an 85V to 230V design then it may be difficult to get consistent performance due to the low level of current sense signal.
