UCC2897A vs UCC3809PTR performance

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC2897A

Hi,

What is the performance between UCC2897A  vs UCC3809PTR?

which one is prefered for the new design?

  • Hi Steve,

The UCC3809 is an 8 pin PWM controller that can be used for a variety of topologies. The UCC2897a is specifically designed for active clamp forward topology which is a version of the forward topology where the primary side losses are reduced for high efficiency. The UCC2897a is in a 20 pin package and uses two power mosfets in its circuit. it also provides internal start up directly from the input voltage rail and is a more sophisticated controller.

    Regards
