TPS43060: Please help check the applicat condition is ok or not?

Hi, All:

Customer want to use TPS43060 for applicate condition --> Vin = 12V, Vout = 54V Iout = 10A

Could you help to check the applicate condition is ok or not?

Other, I used webench that show some information as below.

With the current design condition, suitable FET components M1 and M2 could not be found in the current database. Hence, this design is created using ideal FETs. Please note that the resulting FET parameters are ideal, so the efficiency and loss values (related to FET) have been disabled. Also, schematic/PCB export and thermal simulations will not work with ideal FET.

It mean customer can used TPS43060 if they can find a MOSFET same as webench used, right?

Hi NObody,

I would recommend using the LM5122. There are two major reasons.

1. Total power level is 540W and a multi-phase design will help with component selection. The LM5122 can be easily configured for 2 phase operation. Please note that for some parts WEBENCH does not support multi-phase designs.

2. The SW pin of the TPS43060 is only rated to 60V. This only gives 6V margin from the output voltage. The LM5122 has a 105V rating. This will help to ensure that the device is not damaged when the switch node is ringing.

Another to device to look at is the LM5170 in a boost only configuration.

You recommend to used LM5122 with two phase topology, right?

May I use webench to design Vout = 54V / Iout = 5A and use the design's component into two phase topology?

Hello,

That is correct. WEBENCH can be used to do the single phase design of the LM5122 with a 5A output.

The TPS43060 will work for and output voltage of 44.8V.

I used webench to simulate TPS43060 output, it use ideal MOSFET to design

If MOSFET's spec is not same than webench's, any side effect? (beside efficiency)

Typically there is not an issue with selecting a different MOSFET than what is used in the WEBENCH. Please just be aware that the efficiency will change with different MOSFET selections.
