BQ24298: Bq24298 has not been used before,there are some questions?

Part Number: BQ24298

Working conditions:

1.Micro USB charging with 26650 5000mAh lithium battery;

2. Do not use the OTG function.

Please help check:

1.PSEL is pulled down directly, not limited to standard USB charging.

2. Whether the design of QON, OTG, REGN, etc. is OK.

3. If the USB interface is not tested, just use the VUSB interface ESD protection.

4. Whether it is necessary to leave the pressure stabilizer tube of D2 and the slow start of Q1.

  • Hello Cris,

    Please see my comments below:

    1. Pulling PSEL low will default the input current limit to 3A. The host can always change the input current limit over I2C after start-up. The external pull-down R6 is NC at the moment.
    2. QON pin has an internal pull-up, so no external pull-up is necessary.
    3. Since OTG is not used and PSEL is low, tie the OTG pin logic to HIGH. Change pull-up rail to SYS or VDD_2V8 instead of VBUS to ensure logic state is fixed upon insertion of input.
    4. Similar to OTG pin, change /CE pin pull-up rail to SYS or VDD_2V8. Please note, this is an active low pin. At the moment, the design has charge disabled by default.
    5. Change pull-up of STAT and PG to SYS or VDD_2V8.
    6. Decouping cap at BAT is missing, add 10uF to BAT pin.
    7. D2 will help clamp the VUSB during input transient events. Q1 is not necessary if OTG isn't used, since there is no boost voltage needed to be blocked from the input. Also, the device has an internal reverse-blocking FET.
