Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

When a design generates a CUSTOM resistor or capacitor and an alternate is not available for the range of parameters, how would can I find a component to use. Also, when I click on Build-Lite and Order Parts, none of the parts in the BOM are shown in the spreadsheet, although the parts are exported in excel. What am I doing wrong?

Joseph,

In general, component selection would be done based on the operating points. I am not sure why WEBENCH is not showing you the BOM, but you can calculate values using the datasheet design guide as well.

Thanks for your prompt reply. The datasheet says to use a 2.2nF to 3.3uF ceramic capacitor on the Vcc pin. How do I substitute a capacitor for the one labeled CUSTOM when a suggested substitute does not appear?

Hi Joseph,
In this LED driver design, you can go to select alternate part, then click on the pencil icon to modify the upperbound of the capacitance and then clicking on search. This will try searching for capacitors in the database with the new limits.
As an alternate, you can create a custom component and enter the parameters of the cap that you want, by clicking on the "Create Custom Part" button in the bottom.
