UCC25600: Differences between ucc25600 and tps92020?

Part Number: UCC25600
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS92020, TPS92023,

(Question follow-up of closed thread)

Yes, I also see no difference. In general, I obey that there is a tendency to put integrated circuits in huge market segments like LED and SMPS. This makes it harder for developers to find devices for particular purposed. I think that the trend is simply due to trying to obtain a bigger market share by labeling the same device with different names and different feature set in the datasheet.

  • Hi Rob,

UCC25600 and TPS92020 are the same device. This is a device we felt would appeal to both SMPS and lighting spaces. This also allows TI to get more feedback about the feature set each sector is looking for. For example, the feedback on the TPS92020 led to the creation of TPS92023 which increased the switching frequency clamp from 300kHz to 330kHz and removed the burst function to reduce flickering at light load.

    Best Regards,

  • Thanks for this information. Quite exactly as I expected. Knowing this, I no longer need to spend extra time in querying SMPS and offline LED parametric tables in order to find a possible suitable device for any specific purpose. However, there are manufacturers out there, where a double query (alas) makes sense. In a specific case I found a device marked EOL in the SMPS "tables", while a slightly stripped version lives further in offline LED "tables"...
