BQ275xx and impedance

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ27500

My design requires the battery to be located 6 inches away from the main board.  The link between the battery and the main board, will be awg22 wires with 2 connectors.  Therefore the impedance between the battery and the main board will probably vary depending on wires, contacts, etc.

My questions:

Is the BQ27500 affected by different system impedance between itself  and the battery?

Is it OK to put the BQ on the main board, or should I put it on a small PCB close to the battery?  (doing so means my cable has 8 conductors instead of 6).

  • Sebatien,

As long as they are consistently being measured by the fuel gauge during the normal operation and the total impedance is updated in R table, it should be ok.

It is better to put gauge closer to the battery
