CSD87355Q5D: inbuilt current and temperature sensor quesstion, Also, what is the Rdson and Qg(tot) of the mosfets? How to calculate efficiency with current and pwm freq is known

Part Number: CSD95472Q5MCCSD87355Q5D
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CSD87355Q5D

I see the inbuilt current and temperature sensor, But I dont see much information on how to use them? Is there a gain factor that relates current senses to analog Voltage output? Does Vref has to be 5/2 v ? Also, is the current output ( voltage) calibrated to the temperature? Does that use the same temp that is output for temp sensor output. What's the accuracy and linearity of the inbuilt sensor outputs?

Also, what is the Rdson and Qg(tot) of the MOSFETs? Are the two mosfets exactly the same?

How to calculate efficiency if current and pwm freq is known

Id like to use it as a half bridge , ie use 3 of these to make a hex bridge to drive a 3 phase brushless PMDC motor. is that possible? It looks like a IC solution instead of 2 mosfets, 1 dual gate drivers IC, 1 current sensor IC and 1 temperature sensor IC. So, its great for formfactor.

  • Subrat,

Thanks for posting, it seems you are asking about the CSD95472Q5MC and I have forwarded this inquiry to the group that deals with this. They should be responding shortly but please bear in mind it is a holiday weekend here in the USA so you may not receive a response until Tuesday.

If you are asking some questions regarding the CSD87355Q5D please let me know. I assume not as the CSD87355Q5D has the information you are requesting in the datasheet already.
  • Yes, I meant CSD95472Q5MC,  I was also looking into  CSD87355Q5D, it was an error. I have corrected it in my post as best as I could but the headline seems to be not possible to edit.

I am in US as well, understand its holiday weekend,  It ll be great to hear something next week.

  • Subrat,

CSD95472Q5MC is not suitable for a 3 phase brushless PMDC motor drive. It was only intended for Intel VR 12.5 or VR13 multiphase regulators.

The two internal FETs are not of equal sizes. Besides, input PWM with tri-state drive and the type of internal protections make CSD95472Q5MC unsuitable for motor drive applications.

    Best regards.
